Bossa: The Scream of Refugees

Today, as part of the “Educating in Values” program, we had the opportunity to learn a little about the issue of migration. Arantxa Ordriozola and Maite Santa María from the Ongi Etorri Errefuxiatuak platform explained what the main migration movements are, why they occur and to what extent they affect Europe. As they explained, the work of this platform is more political than welfare-oriented, and its goal is to raise awareness and sensitize citizens and ask governments to respect human rights and fulfill the commitments they have made. After this presentation, Norlan Ríos, a student in the Horticulture Vocational Certificate in Fraisoro, told us about her experience: how, due to the political instability and violence she was experiencing in Nicaragua, her family and she decided to leave their home, work, friends, etc. and go to San Sebastian, not knowing what to expect here. The entire room was full and the students followed the explanations with great interest. Let's hope that after listening to these testimonies, our perspective on migrants has changed.
