FRAISORO SCHOOL AND CITIZENS’ WELCOME NETWORK.
3 years ago, Abdoulaye Sarr made the Senegal-Tanger-Donostia journey with the hope of a better future. With the help of Garazi Montuschi, a volunteer from the HARRERA-SARE in Donostia, we visited Fraisoro School.
We have made it a habit in recent years to work with students on current social issues, as part of the Educating in Values program. This year we wanted to do the same: the guests came to the school and, while each group of students was in their own room, we organized a “video conference”. After the conference, the guests went from room to room, greeted our students and answered questions. The initiative was very well received.
He explained the HARRERA-SAREA project to us. Helping, listening, treating as equals and guiding immigrants on the streets, without social resources and at risk of being in a state of exclusion, is the main mission of the Harrera-Sare. To this end, in order to fulfill the basic obligations of this collective, the Harrera-Sare has launched many different actions in the last two years thanks to volunteers. Abdoulaye, 3 years ago, left his family, friends and university studies in Senegal and set out in search of a better future. Obstacle after obstacle, until today. “I want to give back to those who are in a similar situation with the help I received.” This was one of the messages that stood out today. And to round off this initiative, we, the members of Fraisoro Eskola, also want to continue with the “care” initiative. That is why, until December 18, we have launched an initiative to collect winter clothes and food, to donate everything collected to the Reception Network.
