Basque Caravan for the Sahara
BASQUE CARAVAN, LIGHT UP THE WAITING: FOOD COLLECTION IN FRAISORO
As part of the EDUCATION IN VALUES program, Maria and Txema, who are currently students of Agriculture 1, presented the Basque Caravan for the Sahara project. The main objective of this solidarity caravan is to deliver food to the Saharawi people, in order to alleviate, as much as possible, the serious food crisis suffered by the Sahrawi population who are refugees in Tindouf (Algeria). To better understand the conflict that the Sahrawi people are suffering from, they gave us a historical introduction, from when Western Sahara was a Spanish colony to its current situation, forgotten in the refugee camps of Tindouf, after spending forty-two years abroad. What Maria and Txema explained has aroused the interest of students and teachers and the main hall was full. From next Monday until January 28, we will collect the following foods in some boxes that will be placed at the main entrance of Fraiso: tuna and sardines in oil, pasta, rice, sugar, legumes and compresses. In our humble measure, we want to help the Sahrawi people. May hope never fade away!!
